About

West Point Foundry Preserve protects the site of the ironworks that helped build the village — founded in 1818, it cast the Parrott rifled cannon used by Union forces in the Civil War. Now a Scenic Hudson park and National Historic Landmark, it offers an easy loop past industrial ruins, stone walls, and restored brook and wetlands, reached from the north end of the train platform without crossing Route 9D. An audio tour is available for those who want the full history.
