The Hudson Highlanders Pipe Band is a Highlands-rooted pipes and drums band founded in 2005, with beginnings as the Cold Spring Pipes and Drums tied to the local fire company. Under pipe major James Hartford, the band designed and registered its own tartan in 2008, its colors drawn from the Hudson River, the surrounding mountains, the region's iron and foundry heritage, West Point, and the railroads that line the river.
