About
Marine Battery is one of the Revolutionary War gun batteries raised on Constitution Island after the original Fort Constitution proved poorly sited. Positioned to fire down the Hudson, it formed part of the network of batteries and redoubts that, together with the Great Chain to West Point, guarded this strategic bend of the river. Its garrison was never attacked, and the site today sits on West Point land within the Hudson Highlands.
